#LiveGreenSmart World Month

Why go green?

Everywhere you go people are talking about going green and how it impacts the planet. From plastic bags to chemical products, people are coming up with new and impactful ways to go green.’

#LiveGreenSmart World Month

Join us during #LiveGreenSmart World Month, the month of June each year, in introducing Eco Lifestyle news, eco friendly living tips and products to at least 1 other person, to spread eco-awareness.

Global events like International Coastal Clean-up Day and World Animal Day are just two of the many events which create awareness for worthy causes. Join us in shining a spotlight on doing big or little things to save the earth.

Subscribe to #LiveGreenSmart World Month and stay informed. We’ll bring you Eco Lifestyle News, Information, Innovation and Products. And remind you with each upcoming #LiveGreenSmart World Month. Our initiative provides you with a platform to share your own green and eco lifestyle. And it matters what you’ve achieved. This is not a race and a competition, it is about conserving planet Earth, no matter what your contribution is.

When it comes to Eco-awareness, there is no time like the present. As fresh water supplies are being reduced, and soil erosion and pollution are on the rise, what was once a bountiful Earth is now struggling. ‘Each one of us can make a difference.’

Cree (Native American) saying – “When the last tree is cut down, the last fish eaten, and the last stream poisoned, you will realize that you cannot eat money.” Powerful words.

Environmental Awareness

Unless environmental issues are solved or taken care of, coming generations may find earth not worth living on. The needs of the planet and the needs of the person have become one.

Eco-friendly products

Have you ever tried eco-friendly products like Biodegradable Pots for plants? These square containers are great for small fruit, bareroot roses, perennials, field-dug plants, and broadleaf evergreens. Containers are fiber molded, meaning they are made of recycled material, biodegradable, and usually decompose in about a year’s time.

Precision Induction Cooktop:

The Precision Induction Cooktop (PIC) uses induction technology to reduce the amount of electricity required to cook foods traditionally prepared on electric stoves. The secret is an internal copper coil. This coil generates a magnetic field within your steel and iron-based pots and pans. The magnetic field causes molecules in the pots and pans to begin vibrating rapidly, creating heat, so the cookware itself heats the food. In this way, heat is generated in the cookware and not on the cooktop surface, a process which is much more energy-efficient than cooking with traditional gas or electric ranges.

Environmental Sustainability –
We have choices

Are you willing to make the choices that matter? What sort of world are we living in and are we ready to make the changes required of us?

We looked around at some of these cool sites to help get you started with eco-awareness:

Tips: Not ready to go vegetarian?

Try committing to a meat-free diet one or two days a week to decrease the resources you use up. According to World Wild Life, “It takes about 750 liters of water to produce 1 kilogram of wheat, and it takes 100,000 liters of water to produce 1 kilogram of beef.” That’s a huge difference.

Tips: Fix stuff when it breaks. Fixing the unfixable is way easier and cheaper than it used to be. If the washing machine burns out, don’t throw it out with the bathwater (or laundry water). Getting help is now a simple matter of online crowdsourcing, and it’s a great way to reduce waste and add years to an appliance’s lifetime. You wouldn’t kill an appliance that didn’t have to die, would you?

Tips: When running heat or air conditioning, keep all windows and doors closed as tight as possible so air doesn’t escape the room. It’s easy to forget that a window might be open by a crack, but when air is seeping out of a room, the heater or air conditioner is working harder than it needs to, which means unnecessary cash (and energy) is being spent.

Find out about these Latest Happenings Around the World:

Speak up for those who have no voice: Through increased awareness and education we can create a world where animals are always recognised as sentient beings and full regard is always paid to their welfare.

Current Environmental Issues: There is alarming evidence that important tipping points, leading to irreversible changes in major ecosystems and the planetary climate system, may already have been reached or passed. Ecosystems as diverse as the Amazon rainforest and the Arctic tundra, for example, may be approaching thresholds of dramatic change.

The potential for runaway greenhouse warming is real and has never been more present. The most dangerous climate changes may still be avoided.

Become a Volunteer:

The Ocean Legacy Foundation, regularly organizes cleaning expeditions with small qualified groups out into our oceans and shorelines to collect ocean plastic pollution. They always use qualified volunteers to join, offering their skills, time and energy to the cause of ocean cleanup. Join them if you’re seeking such an expedition!

9 Wild Eco Volunteer Opportunities to Save the World, “It’s not a job. It’s an adventure.” That old Navy recruitment slogan can be readily applied to voluntourism, perhaps the most environmental way to fly off to remote lands. Opportunities abound, from replanting secluded sections of rainforest to protecting rare endangered species.

Voluntary opportunities for children, “Eco Children has provided volunteer opportunities for hundreds of young people globally, inspiring leadership plus personal & professional growth. Through their involvement in several charitable projects it became apparent that donors want to be more involved in projects by not only donating financially but also donating their time, expertise and skills to make a difference.”

Children Make a Difference

People say we are just kids, we can’t change the world, but my English teacher said the most important thing to us on the last day of 6th grade “Just because you are kids, doesn’t mean you can never make a difference. You are the next generation, even if it is something so small like planting a few trees, it makes the biggest difference to everyone, everything. Each and every one of you will make bad decisions in life, but I know that at least one of you will make a difference and when and if you do, I will be proud to say, that was my student. So, whatever you do, do not make the mistakes we made. “She said that and I was about to cry.”

How to promote eco-awareness in children, Supporting local produce and production is an excellent way in which you can help the environment immediately. Make regular visits to the farmer’s market; a fun family activity. It’s also the perfect opportunity to explain to your little ones where food really comes from and that the earth is a resource that nourishes us but also needs tending.

Teach your Kids About Solar Power

Apart from teaching children to switch off the lights and plugs for appliances that you aren’t using; you should teach them about natural resources. Ask them to help you hang the washing to dry outside instead of using the dryer. You could even create a narrative around it and introduce the sun as a superhero.

The Freecycle Network™

“Is a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns and neighbourhoods. It’s all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills.”

Green and Smart Eco Cities start from Recycling one Plastic Bottle at a time

‘When plastic bottles are recycled they are made into lots of things: t-shirts, sweaters, fleece jackets, insulation for jackets and sleeping bags, carpeting and more bottles.’

Recycle your Plastics – What Plastics Can Become: One of the things all of us can easily do to protect and improve our environment is: recycling. Today a plastic bottle may contain juice or water or soda … but what can it become after you use it?

What really happens to the plastic you throw away

We’ve all been told that we should recycle plastic bottles and containers. But what actually happens to the plastic if we just throw it away?

Saving The Environment

About 700 paper chunks were used in this video.

Recycle your Plastics Get Your City to Go Green ‘Today, more than half of the world’s population lives in cities. As the urban population grows and the effects of climate change worsen, our cities have to adapt. It’s time for us to invest in efficiency and renewable energy, rebuild our cities, towns, municipalities and states.’
